We know the new year, new you way of thinking, and we also know that the vast majority of the new year’s resolutions are forgotten after a couple of weeks.
We are writing this because we want to help you achieve these resolutions in a better way; it is not about the small goal but more about how to make it into a habit and a lifestyle.
Here are 5 lifestyle changes that you should be making this 2018, with this you are going to be able to achieve your resolutions and have the mindset shift you need to stick to them for the rest of your life.
1. Be open-minded and curious.
We think this one doesn’t need that much explanation, but in a world that’s so judgmental, we need more people willing to learn and listen. Talk with new people, learn from them, their culture, their thoughts, always be curious and respectful.
Don’t judge something because it is unknown, try that vegan dish that has some ingredients you have never heard of, go to the area in your city that people with different lifestyle go to, pick a book that is not your usual genre, the possibilities are endless!
Set yourself the goal of trying something different and new at least once a month and you are going to see how your life changes.
2. Be proactive
We have all fallen in the laziness and procrastination wagon; putting things off, waiting for someone to come and tell us to do something or even tell us that they are going to do it with us. Don’t do that! You are more than capable to do everything by yourself, it will bring a greater feeling of accomplishment and happiness and you are going to be able to scratch that thing off your to-do list. Noting more rewarding than that.
And we not saying that you should not ask for help if you have people around you willing to help, that’s amazing and you should be very thankful to them! But we want you to know that you can do it by yourself, you are enough and you are incredible!
3. Learn how to cook
This is something that we can’t stress more about! Cooking is so rewarding, you take raw ingredients and make them into something delicious that you are going to enjoy by yourself or with your loved ones. It allows you to get to know your body, what you like, what flavors are your favorites, it relaxes you and the accomplishment of a great meal at the end of the day is the best feeling!
Besides the fact that you are going to be able to save so much money and be more aware of what is getting into your body. You are picking the ingredients, leaving out what you don’t like or want and adding your favorites.
And if you have never made something more than cereal and are scared about burning the kitchen down, we recommend for you to start with a couple of recipes and make them throughout the week, and once you feel comfortable you are going to start adding new things and experimenting with new ingredients.
4. Plan your meals
Still, in the food topic, we think where people have their downfall with food is when snacking, you are hungry but you don’t have anything healthy near you, of course, you are going to go for convenience and grab that bag of chips. We are guilty of this, and we are not feeling guilty about that! Chips are so addictive and delicious, but we all know they are not the best for you.
Learn to make simple snacks that you can carry with you or just take the snacks mother nature has given us! Have some bananas, apples, oranges or your fruit of choice around your house and take it before you leave your house; you are going to have with you that pick me up that is going to carry you until your next meal.
Here are some snack ideas you can like
5. Find your perfect workout
Perhaps the number one resolution is losing weight/work out more, and it is most likely the one that goes out the window first as well. And this is because the first thing we do to reach this goal is sign up for a gym membership, and maybe weightlifting is not your thing, nor it is running on the treadmill for hours.
Our recommendation is for you to try new and different workouts until you find the one you love, the one that gets you excited about it, the one that you look forward. Maybe it is boxing, yoga, pilates, HIIT, or even it is training for a marathon!
There are so many possibilities and so many ways to find that workout, take classes, use an app, find free videos on YouTube, join friends in their different workouts; and we are sure you are going to find the one for you.
Now, these are our recommendations to make 2018 your year, something that you can achieve and will help you give those resolutions you have a whole new meaning. Of course, you don’t have to do all of these, pick the ones that resonate more with you and if you have any other one that we should try, leave it in the comments.
