As natural wellness devotees, our medicine cabinets, make-up bags, shower caddies, and kitchen pantries are often full of oils and seeds for our daily beauty and health needs.
We all know and love coconut oil, Argan oil, Jojoba oil, chia seeds, and hemp seeds as they nourish our bodies, inside and out. Recently, however, more and more people are discovering the incredible benefits of raspberry seed oil. This deliciously potent oil combines the power of natural oils and seeds into one jam-packed supplement with incredible benefits that support and sustain our health and wellness.
Raspberry Oil BenefitsOne of the reasons we love raspberry seed oil is that it has a specific combination of unique benefits that make it stand out from the rest. If we think of coconut oil as the workhorse of natural oils, then raspberry seed oil would be more like the unicorn. It is unique!
Antioxidants are naturally occurring substances found in fruit and vegetables that help stop cells from oxidizing in your body. These oxidants, or free radicals, attack healthy cells in your body which causes a chain reaction of unstable, unhealthy cells. Antioxidants help reduce the number of free radicals in your body and have been linked to helping to prevent cancer, diabetes and accelerated aging due to pollution, smoking, radiation, and herbicides.
Raspberry seed oil has naturally high concentrations of Vitamin E, Vitamin A, and Phytosterols, all of which are powerful antioxidants. Due to these natural properties, raspberry oil benefits the body by inhibiting UV damage, stimulating cell repair, reducing skin damage, and promoting new collagen growth for younger looking skin.
2. Sun Protecting Properties
Studies have shown that raspberry seed oil may provide significant UV protection. The skin benefits of raspberry seed oil include being able to block the sun’s harmful rays by both “scattering” the rays and also absorbing the rays as they reach your skin.
There are two types of sun rays: UVB and UVA. UVB rays are the rays that cause the actual sunburn while UVA rays are what causes premature skin aging and skin cancer. Raspberry seed oil may provide decent UVB SPF protection but offers very little UVA protection. So while raspberry seed oil benefits your SPF skincare routine, we would not suggest relying solely on it to keep yourself safe.

3. Essential Fatty Acids
Our bodies need a certain amount of fatty acids (thus— essential) to maintain proper internal and external balance. Without the right amount of fatty acids, we increase the risk of developing conditions such as dry skin, depression, kidney abnormalities, and overall decreased immune function.
On the flip side, if we supply our system with all the essential fatty acids we need, it can help reduce the incidence of stroke and heart disease as well as relieve menstrual pain, joint pain, and ulcerative colitis.
Some fatty acids we produce on our own, but others like Omega-6 and Omega-3, we need to get from fruits and veggies. Raspberry seed oil contains high amounts of both and can help eczema, acne, and psoriasis when applied topically.
Raspberry seed oil contains high amounts of alpha-linolenic acid which is a naturally occurring anti-inflammatory. Alpha-linolenic acid helps to keep the skin hydrated, reduces puffiness, and helps regenerate cells— which keep your skin looking younger for longer.
5. Ellagic Acid
Speaking of anti-aging properties, raspberry essential oil also contains ellagic acid. This acid is extremely beneficial to our skin, as it helps to reduce the destruction of collagen and minimize the inflammatory responses of your skin. Destruction of collagen and inflammation are two major players in wrinkle development.
Red vs Black Raspberry Seed Oil
There are not many differences between black raspberry seed oil benefits and red blackberry seed oil. In fact, other than their color, the differences between these two types of berries are almost non-existent. Both also both contain the same healing and strengthening properties though in different quantities.
Where To Buy?
You can find red and black raspberry seed oil at most health food stores and those specializing in natural and organic products. You can also find red and black raspberry seed oil products online. We love Berry Beautiful for red raspberry seed products and Russell Organics for black raspberry seed oil.
There is no doubt that black raspberry oil and red raspberry oil can bring about multiple benefits for your inner and outer wellness. Did we mention raspberry seed oil makes your skin literally radiate? The truth is raspberry essential oil has so many amazing properties that it should be a part of everyone’s skincare and wellness routine.
