Betadine Foot Soak For Toenail Fungus

Betadine Foot Soak For Toenail Fungus

If you ever had toenail fungus, you know how persistent it can be. Like most similar conditions, it takes quite a while to treat. Some patients have to continue their treatment for months and months until they see the first results. Even then, there is a good chance that the fungus will resurge if you leave it as it is.

One of the main things to keep in mind is that you need to be patient and persistent. It is something that can be resolved quickly, but with a high risk. Most people treat their toenail fungus by using various topical creams and home remedies. One of the efficient ways to treat it is by using betadine foot soak.

By before we talk about betadine, let’s see what’s actually toenail fungus.

What is toenail fungus?

Toenail fungus is a foot infection that can be seen on your toenails. A person suffering from this condition will have discolored toenails.

It is very important for a patient to treat it as soon as possible. If you leave it as it is, the fungal infection will spread to adjacent toenails. In the worst-case scenario, your whole toenails will start dropping! Keep in mind; your toenails may still drop even if you start therapy. However, if you're under a therapy, this can be a sign that a new, healthy toenail will rise in its stead.

Doctors recommend strong oral drugs for the toenail fungus. The main issue with these medicines is the fact they can cause various side effects. There are even cases where toenail fungus drugs caused entire organs to malfunction. Perhaps the scariest thing is how these drugs affect the liver. This is precisely why patients have to take a blood test before starting their oral drug therapy.

Topical drugs are a bit better as they don’t cause side effects. Still, it takes a lot of time until they start showing results. This is precisely why a lot of people use home remedies and alternative methods such as betadine foot soak.

How do you use betadine for toenail fungus?

You will have to start by getting a vessel (some sort of a tub will work) where you will put your feet. It is best to throw away this tub once the treatment is finished. The last thing you want to do is reuse it!

It is recommended that you wash your feet thoroughly prior to each treatment. Then, prepare a mixture of 2 capsules of Betadine and 2 pints of warm water. Pour them into the tub and soak your feet inside. You should leave your feet inside for at least 20 minutes. Make sure to repeat the process several times a day.

Besides the therapy, you can do a lot by protecting your feet. They get sweaty all the time, so make sure to wash them and dry them regularly. Fungus loves dark and damp spots, so make sure to prevent excess humidity.

Betadine for toenail fungus will take some time to work. You will have to be patient, meanwhile. However, if you're disciplined, you will be able to treat the issue within months!
