Just like the skin cells on your face, the cells on your body regularly shed to reveal new, healthier skin underneath. That turnover process slows as we get older and in order to give it a nudge, you can use a body scrub.
A scrub works in a few ways: as you massage it over your body, the exfoliating granules help to slough off dead skin, and the rubbing action itself boosts circulation and helps drain your lymph nodes, by increasing blood flow to the skin’s surface.
Typically, a body scrub has larger exfoliating particles than a facial scrub as the skin on your body isn’t as delicate.
This is a recipe for a revitalizing scrub that will nourish and pamper your skin. It will gently exfoliate, cleanse, polish away dead surface cells and leave your skin soft and smooth, revealing glowing brand new skin.
Coconut oil is rich in many proteins. These proteins keep skin healthy and rejuvenated, both internally and externally. Proteins also contribute to cellular health and tissue repair, along with a wide range of other essential activities within the body.
Apart from adding delicious chocolatey smell, cocoa butter will add antioxidant, nourishing and softening properties to this body polish.
Avocado oil is highly nutritious and therapeutic for skincare as it is high in vitamins A, B and E, proteins and amino acids. It is great at calming inflammation, regenerating tissues and protecting the barrier functions of the skin.
Sugar is a natural source of glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that penetrates the skin and breaks down the “glue” that bonds skin cells, encouraging cell turnover and generating fresher, younger-looking skin.
Himalayan salts come from the world’s famous Himalayan Mountains and are mined from ancient sea beds, so it is pure from modern environmental toxins. They provide 84 trace minerals, plus a unique ionic energy that is released when the salt is mixed with water. They are amazing at nourishing each cell of the body and keeping the skin healthy.
Geranium essential oil is also used as skin tonic. It can provide proper nourishment to our skin cells and keep them young and healthy. Palma Rosa oil moisturizes the skin, while balancing the hydration levels and stimulating cell regeneration. Lavender essential oil is great for toning and revitalizing the skin. The combination of these essential oils will add aromatherapeutic properties of calming and balancing the mind, while also relieving tension and uplifting the spirit.
